Twiggy’s life

I have never blogged before.  lol  Not sure what I am supposed to write in here, but here goes.

Twiggy has amazed me so far.   When I saw her at the pound, they brought her into the office and she basically just sat and shook.  She has one hip that is held in place with only muscles and one that is contracted and unable to bear weight.  I took her into the vet right away, and was counseled that I should go home and decide if I really wanted to take on this little dog.  So, I took her home and looked up everything I could about living with a three legged dog.  I found she is not a candidate for a cart as a dog needs hips to lock it into the cart and she has none that are viable.  And I watched her get around.  She had been cage bound since the accident and was so fearful of everything.  Day by day she got stronger and more bold and she now can run and play on her three legs.  So, next Monday we will be back at the vets to get her rabies shot, see again if the vet thinks she can be spayed (she didn’t think she could the last time) and see about getting her teeth looked at.  She has a mouthful of retained baby teeth and awful build-up on her teeth.  Then a trip to the ortho doc to have him asses her will be in order, but I think she is doing just fine right now, no signs of pain and able to do everything so that will be on the backburner for now.

Her friendliness and spirit is amazing.  She was at a backyard breaders before and has had pups even though she is so tiny.  So glad I am able to reccue this sweet little dog and give her the home she deserves.

  1. I’m so sorry to hear everything that Twiggy has had to go through in her life already… but you are such a wonderful person to adopt her!! She is a very lucky little dog!

Looking forward to hearing all about her new adventures with her new mommy… and hopefully you will post some pictures of her soon!

  2. You did a great thing by taking her in. She’s so adorable! I just don’t see how people can hurt such innocent things. Give her hugs and keep us updated on how she’s doing!
