Yay! She played with me for the first time today. I just so love it when a rescue finally is comfortable around me to play. She is getting along so well being tripawd it’s ridiculous. She runs and plays and does everything a dog should. Except for the puppy, the other dogs are still not too sure of her. She wants to join in their playing, but they ignore her. Billy will sometimes come over and play a bit, but then walks away. She shows no pain in her hips or pelvis, so I am thinking of foregoing the amputation for now. I have seen her use the bad leg for balance when getting in and out of a dog bed and she can still use it to scratch. It’s not in her way. The vet mentioned that taking it off could mess up her balance, too. She loves sneaking all the toys she can find into a dog bed, then lying on them. lol She is unable to get on the couch, but that’s a good thing because I would hate for her to fall off. She sleeps in her crate at night next to my bed because I am afraid to have her up on the bed. It’s too high and she tends to lurch a bit when she walks. She is cool about being in there, so all’s good. I did have her in the dog room at night with Smoke, but after 6 days, she started screaming when the rest of us went to bed, so I moved her crate in and problem is solved. She doesn’t use the crate during the day anymore, she’s out among the pack. She does bark at my cats, though. lol They are three times her size. She’s a bold one.
